Cali Fire

Saw a picture of the fire damage in Middletown, Cal. in USA Today. There was a burned out 64/66 Chevy truck and a 54 Cadillac.
Got me to thinking about members on this board. I hope any and every one has escaped the ruin this fire has caused.

Im quite a ways south from the fires but i can only imagine the pain horrors that they are facing. There are some strong communities up there and its very evident from all the help and support being shown to eachother that one thing is for sure, they will come back stronger and better! I spotted the burnt out shell of a split nose Camaro on the news yesterday and i cringe knowing there were many more classic treasures claimed by the fire.

Some of my best memories are from that area. I spent my summers as a kid in Middletown. My dad worked on the nearby Geysers project for northern Californias power company PG&E, and he would bring us up with him each summer. The hot springs are pretty awesome around there. My brother and I spent countless hours out in the woods. This was the early 80's, and i remember my brother and I constructed an Ewok village for our Star Wars toys in the trees. Good times.

I took my wife and kids there a couple years ago to swim at the swimming hole I used to go to.

Really made me sad to see the devastation. The hills surrounding the town itself are pretty heavily wooded. And with the drought it's as dry as a bone.
