Cutting bottom lip on 69-72 Grilles

does any body have a write up on how to do this... i think it looks neat! somebody share with me cause i plan on doing this to mine! i tried searching but no luck... if there is a thread pls direct me to it thanks

Doesn't look cut off, just painted body color.

Looks like the filler part of the grille has been taken off probably with a die grinder then sanded then polished. It does provide a different look to the grille but I prefer the bumper for both protection and looks. Jim

i perfer the bumper too it was just another pic i had of the bottom lip cut.... my question is what was used to fill the space where the "lip" was?

The red truck's looks painted, you can see the seam along the front, for some reason, not so much on the ends near the fender. Not sure about the brown truck. You could always get an old grille to practice on and do the forum a favor and make the write up for us I would think some 18 or 20 gauge sheet metal would be the ticket to fill the area in, but I'm not sure your efforts would be seen very well hiding behind a bumper. If you used a front roll pan and welded/molded everything together, I could see going through the trouble, as a lot of the '67-68 trucks on here have that look when using a front roll pan. I just painted the lower lip on mine body color, but obviously I have a seam running across the front of my truck above the roll pan now. Had to do quite a bit of shaping/bending/relief cutting to get the profiles to match, as the rollpan had a gentle curve to it and the grille made a much sharper break in the middle.
