C20 wheel fit?

I have a 77 C20. My friends dad has the factory wheels from a 2005 Chevy Duramax. I know the bolt pattern is the same, but how is fitment as far as offset and hub diameter? Will they fit ok, or will the offset/backspace be way off?

Re: C20 wheel fit?

They look pretty good, particularly on 2wd trucks. You might be able to do a search for some pics, they're commonly (incorrectly) referred to by their RPO. The correct RPO is PY0, but most type/say PYO ("oh" instead of "zero")

Re: C20 wheel fit?

Thanks for the info. Do you know if the offset works well in my application? I don't want to buy them and drive a ways to pick them up, only to find they'll stick way out or rub badly. Also, the truck is stock now, but will probably get lowered a few inches in the future.

Re: C20 wheel fit?

They will install and look fine on the truck, but your options for tire sizes that you can run will be limited by their 6.5" width. I bought a set off of ebay last year and re-sold them once I determined they wouldn't be ideally suitable for the 265/75R 16 tires I wanted to run on my truck.

Re: C20 wheel fit?

Good to know. Thanks. I can get them cheap, with good tired already on them. The rest of my work will be coming slowly, so they may be just fine for me until I can decide on a final size after its lowered. I just desperately want to get rid of the stock white steel wheels.

No problem. It seems I'm going the opposite direction than you on my 79' C-20...my Dad had the truck for many years and lowered it with Belltech drop spindles and butchered rear springs about 12 years ago. I've spend the last 6 months removing all of that and returning it to stock ride height. You don't need a set of drop spindles do you?

Re: C20 wheel fit?

Actually, I was planning on drop spindles. How much you want for them? And how much drop do they have?

I'd take $150 for them. They are in great shape, but the threaded caliper holes in the driver side spindle needs to have thread repair inserts installed as they became stripped.

Re: C20 wheel fit?

I'll consider it. I wasn't prepared to buy them right now, but that's a good price, since new ones seem to be over $400.

Yes, they are expensive and Belltech doesn't even make the C20 drop spindles anymore.

Re: C20 wheel fit?

Not sure which brand I've seen, then. But I found some that are currently available. But yeah. Pricey.

Re: C20 wheel fit?

I just bought a set of the RPO's taken off a 4X4 Chevy Duramax Diesel and they have 285/75R16 on them. Way to big for my truck of course. I haven't broke them down yet to see if there wider than the 4X2 wheels.

All of the PY0s are 16x6.5. The only wider wheel was the 6-spoke 16x7 on the 3500 SRW trucks, in that generation.

It's pretty common for owners to mount 285s on them. I don't care for the ballooned look it creates, but with the right pressure they wear decently.
