55.2 rear axle flip....what shocks?

I am installing a rear axle flip kit on our 55.2 and would like to see what others are using for shocks on their setup.
My next step is to weld the shock mounts to the axle and I want to make sure I'm putting them in the right place and put the socks at the right angle.
Any help/pictures would be greatly appreciated.
This is the flip kit I'm using. ..

I used a similar kit I got from a trailer shop here in Dallas for like $20 picked up for 2" wide springs.
I used my original lower shock mounts and original uppers also. I used a set of front shocks for the rear , had the stroke length needed. ACDelco 520300

I had the wrong link to the specs for the shocks I used:

Also , If your mount is going to be on the axle you will probably need a shock with an even shorter stroke, might check out a 1972 C10 front shock:

Curious, whose kit is that?

Re: 55.2 rear axle flip....what shocks?

I'm pretty sure I got mine from cpp.
Is there any certain angle the shocks should be? If I use the stock upper mounting location how far outward should the lower mount be? I think most of the time I see the lower end of the shock outward of the upper, just wonder if there's a certain angle or if it makes a big difference.

Re: 55.2 rear axle flip....what shocks?

i flipped the axle on my truk using the stock upper and lower mounts with monroe-matic 33086
typically the flip ''kits'' cost you $79 to $99 plus shipping
i shopped a local trailer supply house and got away with about $29 in my flip kit

i kept hitting the bump stops so i changed to a air shock equivalent
how much c-notch are you doing?
what rearend are you using?

Re: 55.2 rear axle flip....what shocks?

For my install I extend and compressed the front and rear suspension as far as I could which gave me a maximum and minimum length. Went to real parts store and found Rancho shocks that were within specs.

This makes sense to me. Loaded truck with some weight. .. then lifted frame with a jack to get a minimum and maximum length.
How much of an angle are your socks mounted? It seems that they need to be as close to vertical as possible?
Thanks

Re: 55.2 rear axle flip....what shocks?

Just looked at your build Orrie and realized your socks are mounted outside of the frame.

Re: 55.2 rear axle flip....what shocks?

Axles are 74 K10 with 74 stock mount location. I welded a 1/4" plate inside the frame as reinforcement. If you look closely you can see the tabs on the axle were I used the 59 location and geometry, I have kept it in case I need more support from air or coil overs when I start towing a trailer. Before I had air shocks because of my slide in camper. Fronts match the 74 geometry as well with fabricated upper brackets.
