wiper bottle mounted on core support?

i'm chopping up a front clip for a secret project i'm working on and I noticed the wiper bottle is mounted to the core support? I've never seen this before is it common? certain year only thing? the donor I believe is a 69 last registered in 81 my folks bought it for $50 in the 80's to turn into a trailer I rebuilt and grenaded the original 307 in my stepside 18 years ago. the pics are below

That's where it is on my '69. I think they were moved to the fender later in '69 or '70. You'll also notice there's no provision for a high note horn under the headlight.

my stepside is a 69 as well and it's mounted on the fender so it must have been built later then, very interesting all the car shows I go to and what not I've never noticed that before

I have seen that page in my the assembly manual. I have never seen one mounted on the firewall, but that appears to be for the trucks over 1 ton. My truck was made mid-Dec., 1968, in Fremont. I am 100% sure mine has been on the core support since day 1. The fender location probably depends on date of manufacture, and the production location may also be a factor. I wonder what the date is on that page. Unfortunately, the manual generally does not show the page/revision dates even though I think the pages were always originally dated. Makes research difficult.

Below are pictures of the 2 different bottle bracket designs. The core support version is the one that locates the bottle farther from the mounting surface.

Re: wiper bottle mounted on core support?

My '68 Chevy also has the wiper bottle mounted on the DS of the core support. Mine was never moved either and was built in March of 1968.

Re: wiper bottle mounted on core support?

I have a 69 C20 and the radiator over flow bottle is mounted on the driver side fender and the washer bottle next to it but on the core support.
