right exhaust manifold
I bought a set of manifolds from summit to replace a set of cheap headers. this was the only style they listed for my 71. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/rn...del/c10-pickup
the muffler shop is telling me its not the correct one for the truck because it routes the pipe up against the starter. they say the left should dump out the rear and the right should dump straight down. Is this true? these would route pipe by starter on any sbc application so I don't see why they won't work on my truck. i'm not wanting to buy another manifold and have a mismatch set. any input appreciated |

Re: right exhaust manifold
On the 2WD trucks with small blocks both manifolds are angled if you want original. The 4WDs had at least one dump straight down, and I'm pretty sure it was both. Some or all of the cars had one of each.

Re: right exhaust manifold
Good Idea as they obviously do not know what they are talking about... I have a set of Original GM manifolds available if you are interested... PM me and we can discuss them...

Re: right exhaust manifold
I know what they are talking about. When I put on my RAM horns (stock exhaust manifolds) the right side dumped right onto the starter. I just went out and got a mini or high torque starter off ebay for 70 bucks and that gave me enough clearance to route the exhaust past it.
