How long is the crew cab short bed compared to a suburban?
Just curious anyone whos done a shortbed swap know?

Wheel base for 73/91 Suburban is 129.5"
Wheel base for 73/91 crew cab is 164.5" Crew cab short box is 14" shorter making it 150.5" That is what mine is now. Work in progress. |

It looks to me like short bed is 117.5", long bed 131.5" so yes, 14" difference.
CCLB is 164.5" so taking that 14" off you get 150.5". Suburbans are shorter than I'd realized, before I looked at numbers I always assumed they were longer than a normal long bed but wheelbase is a couple inches shorter. I suppose you could combine a Suburban and a normal truck to do an ultra short bed, not sure I've seen that. OAL on long bed is 210.25", Suburban 218.75", so I guess that's why I figured Suburban was longer - it is, just has a shorter wheelbase.

I have seen a crew cab body on a suburban frame and it had room for maybe a 3 feet bed if that.

For some reason I just went brain dead I thought that the difference in a short bed and a long bed was 2ft that's 24" where did the other 10" go to if you only have to cut ou 14"
