No notch and the control arms clear the wheels with no grinding. That was my biggest worry and why I was thinking about going with a larger wheel but now that I see the 15's on it, that's the way it will stay. I would love to find a set of 15x8 steelies at some point.

Thanks, I'm pretty sure that is what I will be running as well. I mentioned darker gray paint on the rally's, it looks like yours are a little darker than normal. Did you paint them?

Re: Finally got the 4.5/6 drop finished

Three better shots today. Cleaned up the surface rust in the rockers and after pulling the carpet from the kick panels we found some bondo at the bottom on each side. Grinded it out and there was just a little rust where the kick panels join the floor.

Got everything patched, placed some seam sealer and POR 15. Put the new weather-stripping on the doors as well. Going to stay with the current carpet, just going to steam clean it the best I can and then it's time to wax that paint and see if I can get a little oxidation off of it.

I'm open to suggestions on the best product to use on the paint.

Re: Finally got the 4.5/6 drop finished

Your truck looks great.
I'm saving this pic.
A lot of people don't understand how much wider the front track width is on these trucks.
Especially the 67-69 trucks with the narrower rearend and disc brakes added in the front.
It's just a pet peeve of mine.

Skip the waxing and go right to buffing with good 3M products.
You will be amazed.
Then give it a coat of wax.

You can put a 10" wheel and tire on the rear and it will fit and look like its made for that truck.

If I could find a 10" wide 6 lug rally I believe that is what I would put on the back.

Thanks. I'll see what products I can find and hit it with the buffer.

Re: Finally got the 4.5/6 drop finished

After some research it looks like 3M Finesse it in a medium grit may be the way to go.
Thoughts on the grit?

Re: Finally got the 4.5/6 drop finished

Here's what I used on Gingers cab.
#1 rubbing compound with a wool pad has amazing results, but move quickly and stay off of the corners. The original lacquer paint on my truck was thin.
Then followed up the last two compounds with the correct foam pad.
It even bought a new buffer for this job.

I figured it was a good investment and way cheaper than a new paint job.
Take your time and have fun!

Re: Finally got the 4.5/6 drop finished

Keith is right on with the 3M stuff and how to use it. I believe the #2 uses the white/cream colored foam pad while the #3 uses the dark gray foam pad. The white/cream pad is a coarser foam than the dark gray, which helps each compound do its job. (Assuming you are getting 3M pads. I can't speak for other brands colors).

Thanks! Is an auto body supplier the best place to get this stuff or do the local parts stores have it? I want to have the right pads as well for the buffer.

Re: Finally got the 4.5/6 drop finished

You can usually find these products anywhere that sells paint.
I got mine at my local auto parts/paint supplier.
But they keep these 3m products in the back.
Be prepared to spend a few bucks,... But its worth it.

I went that route also and it is pricey but the products do work. or try amazon they have the entire kit plus all the pads for $132 and free shipping....seems like a deal and shipped to your front door. looks like only 2 left at that price though
