Turn signal help
I rewired the whole truck and nothing in the steering column was working.
I replaced the turn signal switch and now my hazards work perfectly but, my turn signals do not. I believe all wires are hooked up correctly and I have several new clean grounds. (Battery to block, front clip to frame, cab to frame, bed to frame, block to frame, and I also have grounded my instrument panel.) The guy I got the truck from said the turn signals did not work for him but, I have since rewired. The hazards work fine so I am thinking that tells me that the flasher and bulbs are ok. Any advice appreciated. |

The fact that the hazard flashers work does tell you that all the bulbs and their associated wiring & grounds are okay. However, the hazards use a different flasher than the turn signals. So you could still be dealing with a bad turn signal flasher. |

Re: Turn signal help
not sure what truck your working on; the 41 in your sig could be your truck, age or yr of birth
below is the wiring diagram for a gm column and most aftermarkets harnesses use gm color code do your brake lights work? i'll assume no (ass-u-me) do your running lights work? get out your multimeter and start testing with brake pedal pushed there should be 12v+ power on WHT BRN and PUR should also be 12v+ hot at all times (the flashers open under load) use a 12v+ jumper and hook up Lt BLU, Dk BLU, YLW and GRN to test the wiring to each corner of your truck confirm each light is working and the wiring is good if you have power at the 3 hot wires and lights at each corner of your truck then look at how the switch is connected to each wire your brake lights and rear turn signals use the same bulb and filament do some testing and write back

Re: Turn signal help
My truck is a 1968 c10
My brake lights are working. This information will be very useful if I need to do more advanced troubleshooting. Thanks. |

Re: Turn signal help
if your hazard and brake lights work, i'd try swapping flashers first.
new parts don't guarantee working parts manufacturers use the cheapest junk they can in universal harnesses to match other vendor prices
