Steering box is Leaking.
1971 C-10 Cheyenne W/Power Steering
The other day I noticed a few drops of ATF on the floor just under my power steering box. After closer inspection, it looks like it's coming from the end plug on the front of the steering box. There's an O-Ring seal behind the end plug that's probably the culprit. Would anyone here by chance know the part number or size of that O-Ring? I could always take it apart and measure it but I'd rather have a new one in hand when I take the end plug off. Thanks |

I have one apart out in the shop. I can measure it in the morning if you don't get a part number by then. LockDoc

Re: Steering box is Leaking.
That's a strange place to leak. Yes there is an o-ring there. It is in a seal kit.
However, my experience is the adjuster plug, at the other end of the box, is more prone to leaking.

Re: Steering box is Leaking.
That's one thing I'll have to look into. It would make sense that it's leaking from the other end and migrating to the front. That's the low end and the drip would come from there.

Mine was leaking from everywhere. The cap measures 3 1/4" on the inside lip where the "O" ring seats and the "O" ring measures +/- 3 1/4" ID & 3 1/2" OD - .150 Dia. I know that doesn't equate but that is what I came up with.... LockDoc
