What year first 396 in our trucks??
Hi All,
What year was the 396 V8 avaible for our trucks? I have a book, "Standard catalog of American light-duty Trucks" and it show in 1969 the 396 was an option for the C10/C20/C30/K10/K20/K30. I have a guy near me that says he has a 68 396 1/2 burb for sale $4500. He says 68 is first year for 396 in trucks. What do you think?? |

1968 would be the year. I happen to have my 1968 CST 50th anniversary truck ordered that way.

Also, your book is wrong about the 396 being in a K-10 and K-20....big blocks were never installed in any 4X4 truck/blazer/burb in 68 - 72.

68, the 67's had a wider frame channel that would have to be cut off to fit the BB.
