Just crossin' my fingers that the shop where it's at now won't drag this project out forever.

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

Done with my rattle can overhaul of a strong running 84' 4 bolt 350 and recently rebuilt TH400. I disassembled, cleaned, sandblasted as needed, primed, painted, and reassembled all front accessory drive. Added some valve covers that came off my grandpas stock car in the 70's and some Camaro headers I got dirt cheap. Installed in my 53 and did a valve adjustment that should get rid of the tappet ticking up near the #1cyl. Will do some wiring and hopefully fire it up by the weekend

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

Pulled the Kansas truck out of the carport, tracked down wiring problem, bought a battery, changed the oil, threw some antifreeze in her, cleaned gas tank (along with a lot of nastiness under seat) and hooked back up, threw $5 of gas in her and brought her back to life from who knows when. Actually ran but carb loading up and leaking like a sieve. I'll deal with that and a couple other minors and she'll be ready to flip so I can get to the real project.

Back to my five minutes a day work plan after over a year, feeling good getting back at it. Tonight welded up a few more seams on the drivers door.

Thanks Jeff, but that actually is a filler neck, just no rubber seal and picture makes it look like hell, lol. (I actually have a couple more filler necks and even that old gas tank I got from you and never used.)

Got an old gas cap laying around?

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

All I did was get a curtain up after going to two different stores twice each to get all the right things for the project. I now can walk into the garage and put in my five minutes a day without spending time getting ready. WHOOO HOOOOO!

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

At least you have your project in the garage where you can work in it even in tight quarters.

Good idea on the curtain, I've known a couple of guys who ruined the paint on the finished car because it got hit with the results of grinding on the project vehicle.

If it snows much more I'll be able to build a shop out of snow and work inside it.

I looked at the frame while trying to figure out why my tankless water heater was giving me an error code "11"

Re: What did you do with your truck today, take 2

Since my cab is 5" longer, I needed some 6 "longer
trim pieces for the cab floor to door rubber strip.

I copied the old one, but made it from brushed stainless.
I trimmed them to length, and will finish the cutout with
an end mill.

I made a simple countersink die and used it in the arbor press.

Looks great! Do you have any details or pics of your cab being 5" longer?
