Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
I have the front on jack stands with the drum brakes torn apart. Wheel cylinder on front right was leaking. Both drums on front were originals and time for new drums and internals.
I just bought the 64 c10 on Tuesday. Last edited by Backpayne; 12-24-2015 at 08:55 PM. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
I detailed the 6cyl & 3spd that I took out of the 65 truck im building for my friend James and I put it in my 65 truck .
his truck gets the 350 & th350 that was in my truck. my truck was his parts truck , so I get all the leftover scrap parts to build mine with . I spray canned the fender the same red that I did the engine with to see how the truck would look red. backpayne your truck looks great , I like the paint .. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Due to where I had the mufflers mounted yes...Very loud. haha 2000 RPM made me want ear muffs because the hum was so loud. If I had mounted them where the axle was then things would have been quieter in the cab. But the system was temporary and I wanted to hear the sound. At 3500 RPM that tone kicked in and Man! That six banger sounded angry. Miss it to. Need to get my truck back together so I can hear how my new one sounds. lol

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Christmas Day in North Carolina, sunny, temperature in the 70's and my 4 year old grand daughter wants to go for a ride in my '63. We took a slow cruise all thru the neighborhood. It doesn't get much better than this.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Hugh |

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Well I said I wanted it rolling by Christmas and well it's rolling . I still need to fit the rear shoes and rear wheel cylinders , but I have spoken to Don and he is getting me the rear Spring kit .
Well after I pushed it outside , i decided to get the engine in place The next job is to fabricate a mount for the TH350 auto box so the engine is in and the box will have to follow . I have already got the later 66 park brake cables so I can do away with the canter leaver system on the 65 .

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Put some cardboard in front of the rad. Took about a half minute of head scratching but it can slide up from the bottom past the original seals and sit on the lip of the lower tank.
The other day I had it out and and when heading down the long hill past the dealership where this thing first entered service about fifty years ago, the cold light came on. With bare steel floors and door seals out of place this thing gets cold inside. Hopefully with the cardboard in place the engine can at least get up to normal operating temperature and the heater might run a little warmer. |

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Thanks! lol Yeah, I'm happy I found them IN the air cleaner and not somewhere else. haha And its funny...this V6 sure has its own distinct sound...at 2500 RPM the tone kicks in...then after that it gets quiet. I reved the engine to almost 3400 rrpm and it sounded like 2500 rpm. lol

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Now I see you must be my long lost brother in England. We both have a 1965 and I see you have the EXACT same wheels. I know those beautiful slots are from a 1970's Jeep Wagoneer (just like mine) and have the 3 small holes where the center cap screws onto the wheel. Very nice indeed!

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Popped out the windshield and back glass. Question, is there any way to fix some 'foggy' sections in the glass? The spots are mostly near the edges and it seems like there might be coating that has leaked.
After that, I blasted and epoxy primered the cowls, front intake vent area and some patch panels for the front fenders. I mostly just did the patch panels to test some factory paint colours. Also, I found some rust hidden under the rain gutters seam sealer on my replacement cab. i guess I'm learning how to do lead body filling now. <womp womp> |

Re: What did you do to your truck today part III
Unfortunately, that is in the layers of the glass and the only way I know of is to replace the glass.
