headlights correction
I put a bit of information in a post about headlights a few weeks back that turned out ot be wrong. Someone was discussing headlights and I posted that the Hella's on ebay, part number 70476, were not the desirable ones and was wrong. The 70476 is what Hella calls an e-code light that is not DOT approved, but is definitely a lot brighter than the DOT version. I have ordered a set off of Ebay and they should be delivered tomorrow. I ended up getting them for $81.23 including shipping and a set of bulbs. The best I had found otherwise was about $120. From what I've read the Hellas are supposed to have some of the best beam pattern and performance available. I really think the clear ones look cool, but decided to go with the Hellas for performance.

You will love your e-codes. I've had them in various vehicles since the Seventies. Hellas are indeed some of the best. I currently have Cibies, which have a bit less vertical light on high beam than Hellas. Upgrade bulbs are available, but brand-name standard 55/60 watt bulbs are very good indeed. Be sure to aim them properly so you don't dazzle oncoming traffic with your low beams. Simply make sure the flat horizontal cut-off slopes slightly down away from the truck, and that both lamps are adjusted the same. For fine-tuning, have someone drive your truck towards you at night, or follow you in your truck. Sorry for the long reply; I just think these lamps are great, and so few people seem to know much about them. Enjoy!

If those work as well as my old Cibie Z-beams, you will wonder how you ever drove with the old ones.
http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/aim/aim.html tells how to aim E-code headlights. (just in case you have a 40' flat spot with a wall at the end & nothing else to do )

E-coded headlights are approved for road use in the European Union, that's what the E means. I have Hellas in my truck.
