Glue for Vinyl Door Panel Skins
Want to reglue original vinyl door skins on to new metal door panels. Any recommendations for what glue to use? Don't want to redo this job in a year because the glue didn't hold. THX.

Probably a good bet would be to use 3M spray adhesive. It comes in normal and heavy duty. I used it to patch up my carpet on my 74 Bronco and it worked well.

Dave,
Will certainly keep that in mind, but those door panels will be fighting gravity vice embracing it like a carpet. Thanks. |

The stuff is called yellow super trim adhesive and this is what it's for--the carpet deal was a side application which was a tough one and worked well.

3M. If you want to get Hardcode, go Super 90. Otherwise 77.
I used 90 on my headliner. It's permanent.

Use the 3m adhesive, it's about $25 a can but works fantastic. I used it on my headliner, no sags or wrinkles.

I buy my 3M Super 90 at our local Lowe's for less than $15/can.

Weld wood is great if you can find it.

Re: Glue for Vinyl Door Panel Skins
Most upholstery shops and street rod builders use landau top and trim adhesive for automobile applications. This includes headliners, vinyl tops and other trim apps. Stands up to the extreme heat the sun imposes on cars and trucks.
