I have them, but I run the Blackbird's Custom Trucks website..

It is a night and day difference.

I should start out by asking which rearend you have..

You can check our website to see if we have a kit to fit your needs..

As for a 12 bolt rear it is not a daily kit, but can be made..

Alright done pushing my site

Now you can also search on here. There have been many threads posted about making your own and what you need..
Good informative stuff from a bunch of knowledged people.

Also if looking into buy a kit besure to look around on the net..
Some of the other guys products are a little pricey, but always an option..

And I believe some of the companies on the homepage of this site make or sell kits also..

Good luck and hope to hear from you..

Oh yeah coming next week we will be accepting PayPal for credit cards.. Its cheaper for us than to have a shopping cart page through someone else..

I have a disc brake rear end out of an Imperial. After i obught it and put it in, i found out later that brake parts aren't available anymore. I know some other members took 9" fords out of Lincoln Versaies (?), has discs, 9" stump, 5 on 5 bolt patern and is close to same width. I have also see disc brake kits, i have seen one high performance kit for front and back of our trucks.

rear brakes

I've run 2 kinds.

First Lincoln Mark IV:

worked very well, not much difference in length to a factory rear. very easy to cut the pads off and weld on replacements.

Wilwood Racing Brakes.

Work very well, cost too darn much, look really cool. I do have Aerospace Components brakes on my front and I like them more than the Wilwood ones.

My truck stop's a lot better with rear disc. Helps a lot when drag racing at a track with a short shutdown area. I used mid 90's Impala SS rear disc. I had to make a backing plate. The PBR aluminum calipers are really light. It knocked 25 lbs off the truck.

TASER

When I built my 56 chevy BelAir,money was no object.We built a
4-link rear suspension which required alot of work.I was convinced the front DISC brakes did 80% of the braking so I kept
the rear DRUM brakes. We were wrong.
WHEN I BUILT MY 69 CST,I STARTED WITH 4 WHEEL DISC BRAKES.
REAR DISCS REALLY MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
I highly recommend going with rear disc brakes.

I'm sure I have a good name on this forum and I would recommend buying from www.classicperform.com for your braking
needs.Classicperform builds their own product and their website
has excellant instructions.

NEVER BUY FROM BROTHER'S TRUCKS
Brothers(sisters)buys from "classicperformance" and then marks up the price to you guys.
If you are looking for trim parts,"TRUCK SHOP" in Orange,CA has the best prices.Just be patient with order desk girls.

No, I didn't have to do anything to the axle flange.

some pics of my rear discs. they've worked great in the limited number of miles i've driven (waiting for spring) all the parts are readily available at any parts store, except the brackets, they're an ebay item. if anyone is interested, PM me and i'll send you the details.

Reply to Javy's slam

I'll try to stay on High Ground here, but I wanted to rebuff the comment made by Javy in his post.

Quoted from Javy:

"NEVER BUY FROM BROTHER'S TRUCKS. Brothers(sisters)buys from "classicperformance" and then marks up the price to you guys. If you are looking for trim parts,"TRUCK SHOP" in Orange,CA has the best prices.Just be patient with order desk girls."

1) We don't buy from Classic Performance. They make good products that we have bought in the past, but we use a different supplier now that makes our stuff to our specs. Besides, is Javy suggesting that we bought it from them at retail and then "Jacked" the price to our customers? They sold it to us at wholesale and of course we marked it up, otherwise we'd be making nothing...

2) If you need trim parts, there are at least 5 suppliers that are regulars on this board you COULD go to if you wanted. GMC Paul, Ed @ Mother Truckers, Bill @ Vintage Chevy, etc... these are guys you all know and trust, use them if you don't want to use BROTHERS. I know that Javy mentioned TRUCK SHOP, but I would warn that while their prices are usually good, their quality is notoriously not so good. Additionally, why would you waste time with someone that you need to "have patience with"? Isn't your time and sanity worth more? Save your patience for dealing with your wife and kids . Paul, Ed, Bill already KNOW TRUCKS. BROTHERS customer service guys KNOW TRUCKS too. That's what you want, right? You can deal with "Order Desk Girls" when you're at Burger King getting lunch, but you don't want to deal with them when you buy parts.

Javy obviously has a beef with us. It's understandable, but I feel like the Forum Slamming is cheap, childish and unnecessary. Obviously I need to contact him and see if we can patch things up.

Thanks for your time and attention

383 Stroker,

You think you could make another set of those brackets? If so, how much? I like your set up and would like to get the brackets from someone who knows how to make it work. I like the PBR calipers. They look good and are way lighter. Any help would be good.

I've been working on a set up of my own, but don't really have the time for fabbing brackets.

Thanks

No dirt track really local, plus we are a long way from racing season here. Although it is supposed to be 60 on Friday. Were your brackets for the PBR type calipers? Those are really what I am looking for. I know the calipers are way more money, but they are better looking than the others. If you can get them for the PBR calipers, I would buy a set off you. As long as they are for the truck rear ends. The brake flanges are different than the cars I think. Ours are rectangle and the cars are square. At least that is what I noticed when looking one day, could be wrong though.

I have my setup on a ford 9 inch that is under my 63 c-10. I used 72 chevy calipers so they would be the same as the ones on the front. It is in no way high tech but it stops better than my 2001 chevy half ton.

Well, I guess I'll close this post....Javy we have a review page for reviews if you have legitimate beefs or issues. Should not have been done on this forum page here and perhaps a private message with a board member may have been a better approach.

Stockcarproducts.com is a great online source for dirt track parts. I'm not sure which of these caliper brackets (if any) would work on a truck, but it's a good place to start...

Had a cool call from John.
This board should not have to read our differences.
John's phone call closed my "beef".I'm surprised it took so long.
I challenge you to send Josh a donation!
I'll match what you send.
