hey im looking at buying an 80 4x4 what is the cheapest way I can lift it up a little bit. nothing drastic i'll do that latter when ai can afford more?

I have heard I can lift the body by using hockey pucks any oppinions on this?

If I move the leafs to the top of the axel is that gonna cause problems?

You can buy a body lift for less than 100.00 bucks. If your going to lift it do it right, you'll be better off in the long run.

Don't do a hack job on lifting a truck. Hockey pucks, wood blocks, etc are extremely unsafe! If you do something like that, photos of your truck will end up on the web with people making fun of it. I have seen several web sites of "home-made" lifts and suspension modifications (scarry and funny!)

Body lifts are fairly cheap. You can also find used lifts on message boards like this, ColoradoK5.com and Pirate4x4.com. It is usually someone either going bigger or moving away from rear blocks. When you lift a truck, you will most likely need to extend brake lines, etc too.

cheap lifts... that's exactly what i was going to do to mine. i was going to buy a set of 4-6" lift springs used (whatever i could find) found several sets for $100-150, then i was going to use a 2wd rear spring front hanger on the rear mount for my rear springs, to invert the shackle, which gives 4" of lift. then, if i had found 6" springs, i was going to use a 2" 2wd "drop shackle" which would give me roughly another 2" of lift out back. steering correction via a lifted steering arm, and i was going to have one of my buddies hook me up with a set of cheap shocks looked up by dimensions, not part number or application ( so i would have adequate length and travel)

yes... but the shackles are over top of the hangers from the factory. doing this mod puts the shackles below the hangers, which is why its called a shackle flip, not an axle flip, like the 2wd guys use to get drop.

i wasnt 100% sure that pre-72 trucks were the same in that aspect.

I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone. 1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed. 1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
