20K Original Mile GMC on EBay?

Advertised as a 20K original mile truck. Hopefully a board member can go look at this truck in person.

Looks nice, the tailgate and steering wheel aren't original. Other than that looks to be very nicely preserved.

I wish it were closer, I would go look at it in person. I would like to have an all original survivor truck.

Re: 20K Original Mile GMC on EBay?

I have NEVER seen a truck with hood insulation. I wonder if that was a dealer kit/option or if the owner just added it somewhere along the way.

Great looking truck.

That's a nice looking truck. I'm always a little suspicious of those 'original' low miles. I guess it's possible though

Smile Re: 20K Original Mile GMC on EBay?

Very nice truck...very nice condition.
I'm not 100% convinced about the mileage tho'.
As 'ol Blue K20 mentioned the steering wheel and tailgate not being original...although there could be acceptable explanations for that.
The other questions for me regarding the mileage accuracy would be:
1) what would be wrong with a 20k mile front seat and why was it changed or reupholstered?
2) Why does the gauge cluster/bezel show excessive (plastic) chrome wear? (note at 20K it should be still pretty shiny...while right now it looks fairly well used)
3) The brake pedal appears to show some wear more indicative of 120k worth of braking/stopping vs. 20k worth of stopping.
4) The ol 'forearm rub' part of the drivers side window sill looks more like 120k worth of driving rather than 20k. Its pretty hard to rub that much paint off the sill with only 20k worth of driving.
NOW, on the upside....I would simply take the original/low mileage out of the question....too many trip points and in this case, probably unlikely.
The truck is very original overall and is in really nice condition. If it is reasonably priced this would be a great purchase/find for someone looking for a very nicely optioned vintage GMC.
Very nice truck, nice find.
all Good

Re: 20K Original Mile GMC on EBay?

It also has a worn "Invader 350" sticker from a GMC Sprint, which is incorrect. So it's wrong, but old. That makes me wonder if it's not an older, like late-80s to mid-90s, restoration.

Re: 20K Original Mile GMC on EBay?

The guy that tried to sell me my 65 mustang insisted it only had 27K original miles on it... I just smiled and paid what I thought the car was worth, not based on mileage.

After getting into the motor to fix a bunch of leaks from old dried out seals... I found my "original low miles car" had a 1972 302 block rebuilt to 289 specs... Someone had either gone through the trouble of putting the correct dated parts on the outside of the motor (intake, A/C water pump, etc) or they swapped all the original stuff onto a rebuilt Ford crate engine (found the "remanufactured by Ford" tag hidden under the DS motor mount.) I'm still extremely happy with the car as it really was an all steel, all original Ford metal body, but I'm glad I didn't pay what the seller wanted for the "original miles."

I need mountains of proof to believe most anything is a "low mileage survivor", so now a days, I just smile and nod. It is a super nice truck though

I have seen that sticker on other gmc trucks before. I think it may be correct.

It is a nice looking truck, but I would question the mileage.

Also a/c hoses are newer. I don't believe the mileage, but it looks like a nice truck. I would drive it.

I have the same exact GMC minus a/c. Bought from first owner, Invader 350 sticker was still on passenger side valve cover when I first opened hood.

First clue was tilt column with a green wheel (should be black). Second clue is the grain on the wheel. After market grain is more prominent than factory was. I hope this helps

Lacks the correct bolts for the hood latch so that's been off at some point. Description is sparce, almost deliberately so.

Good eye. I had to look at mine to see what you mean. Noted. That some cancer in the door frame? As far as the bezel, usually the "Lights" go bad. His is still nice. Any chance the chrome does poorly in humidity? Suppose it could be a OER part and the chrome wasn't as good to begin with. My "Lights" are dim, but my chrome is better than his.................Always garaged, or at least since 1989. There's 140K miles on this. Dry climate.

What's the tailgate off of? Seems it would have seen paint with a tailgate. Maybe a collision. Seat might be a red flag, but they weren't made to last. Mine was thrashed when I bought this.

Not necessarily. There was a discussion about vent color in a thread a couple years ago, but I forget what drives the color. It may have been driven by the color of the dash pad, door panel, and upholstery. I think the steering column was the same deal.My maroon 69 with black seats, door panels, steering column, carpet and dash has black vents.

Just speaking for mine, and I can't guarantee they're correct, the only one with a hex head is for the grille support. The other four are double hex I'm guessing.
