What year truck did you get the hoses from? I need longer ones for mine and don't want to use braided or plastic aftermarket. i'm sure the banjo hole was metric on your new ones thats some of the size difference.

Not sure what truck they came off of, but the part number is BH36957.

Got the rear brakes plumbed today! The disk conversion for an HO52 is stupid simple, the hardest part was reassembling the hubs with the new disks. The calipers and disks are from a '75 K20, and the conversion brackets are from RuffStuff Specialties. I decided to secure the brake line tabs with hose clamps until I can get them welded. After cutting a little channel for the hose clamps to sit in they are surprisingly sturdy.

Finished up the transmission lines. I ran steel lines to the front of the oil pan and then finished it off with braided line. For my first time ever working with the braided stuff I think it turned out pretty good!

Two steps forward one step back...I decided to farm out the bodywork on the cab. The guy I have doing the work restores classics in his spare time and does incredible work for a reasonable price. The cab needed a lot of work to make it straight including rust holes in the firewall and hail damage on the roof.
He got it all straightened, sealed, and primed so we decided to hang the doors just to be sure they fit before color was sprayed. Only then did we notice that the backing plates on the passenger side are missing! Does anyone have a source for the backing plates??

True, it probably wouldn't ever get done if I had to do all the body work myself! I helped my paint guy hang the doors this morning and he let me see a little preview of what the color will look like. 507 light blue, I can't wait to see it on the cab itself!

You're doing it right- keep up the good work! My cousin had a 78 k10 swb that he installed 3/4 ton springs & axles under- it was a bit rough riding.

What fittings did you use to connect right at the radiator on your braided transmission lines??

It's an adapter that converts a 5/16 inverted flare to a -6an fitting...I can't remember the brand or part number off hand, but as soon as I get home next week I'll take a look at my receipts and let you know.

Ok, thanks I appreciate it. I'm thinking of doing mine the same way, I was pretty sure they were 5/15" inverted flare but I haven't seen them in 5/16 to -6AN.

nice build...but you bought a 67 k-20, scrapped the frame and cab to keep the axles and the non original engine and TC... now shortened another frame and found a 68 cab...

you like to take to hard way in building, but at least it's coming along.

Looking back I would have shortened a frame (or waited to find one), found some CUCV axles and started fresh. Maybe an LS engine...

Yeah I'm prepared for a bit of a rough ride. I still have 1/2 ton springs under it, so I'm hoping it won't be too bad after all. We'll see!

Yes I'm definitely doing it the hard/expensive way! The only things I'm keeping from the k20 I originally bought are the axles, drive train, hood, grill, cowl, and maybe a few interior parts. If I could do it over again I'd start.with less of a basket case that has a few more usable parts!

Rolled the chassi outside in preparation to set the cab tonight. This is the first time it saw the light of day since I bought it!

Brought the doors, cab, and outer fenders home from paint today! Scott did a fantastic job, I couldn't be happier! He even rebuilt the glove box door latch as well as the hinge. I was a little apprehensive about sending it off to get all this work done because I wanted it to be "My" build, but I feel like this was the right decision. There's no way I could match the cost or the quality if I did it myself. I'm one happy dude right now.

This is before any polishing, it turned out beautiful and I'm very happy with the color choice, it definitely "pops"! Cell phone pictures don't do it justice.

If I could do it over again, I'd stick with the original doors and have the rust repaired. I was hoping to save a little money by buying some aftermarket doors from "Key Parts". Initially they looked great, but on closer inspection we found quite a few issues. Scott ended up having to cut the top of the frame down 1/4" on both doors to get them to fit correctly. Also, one of the doors looked like it had been dropped at some point. The bottom edge was bent inward about 1" and it had obvious marks from a hammer on the inside which were poorly covered up with some black spray paint Hopefully the fenders and bed panels I bought from them are in better shape...I'm a little nervous now.
