Question on Trim rings? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I need to know if the GM truck rallys can use any trim ring or do they use specific trim rings. I've seen some nice 15" stainless rings on ebay and wasn't sure if they would fit. I prefer the smooth rounded edge over the rigid edge ones. I am gonna run some 15X7 and 15X10s. Thanx for any advice

On my 8" ralleys, I used stainless that were 3" wide. I'm guessing it would need to be 2 or 2.5" with 7's. I'm not sure if they even make them wider than 3", so you might have to run the 3's on the 10's too. Oh, and as far as I know, except maybe for the ridge you speak of, a trim ring is a trim ring. I'm sure if I'm full of hot air, someone will let me know.

i got some beauty rings at my local autozone for 15 inch rims for just 10 bucks a piece. you might check there....if nothing else to save the ebay shipping. Corey

Might want to check into the narow trim rings from Stockton Wheel or Early Wheel Company...they are 1-2" and look really nice when used with smooth or rally centers.

I always liked the stock 88 & up trim rings. You can pick them up @ most swap meets, used hub-caps joints, wrecking yards & the dealerships still prob have them lying around.

The thing I like about them is it doesn't matter how wide the wheel is..... the trim ring only covers the initial outer lip, so it's the same look on different size wheels.

I like the factory trim rings and center caps on my '84 and so do other people..............those people want them for free as they try to steal them when in mall parking lots. That says something about how high they are!

I need to start stocking up on these things. None of mine have ever been stolen, but I think they will begin to as they get harder to find. I have bought a couple of caps and a trim ring at the local Pick 'n' Pull, and they only get about $2.75 for them. I doubt that will be the case in the near future.

Jay, there are actually 3 different sizes of the 'old' style rally. The trucks used either 7's or 8's and will take the nice looking wide rings. Almost any aftermarket or factory ring will fit also. Other cars used the wide rings like big Pontiacs but some styles were brushed instead of polished. The 'detail' of the polished ones vary greatly also, some will look like a mirror while others kinda dull. Here's what to watch for . the third size is commonly referrred to by the seller as 15x7 but they are actually 15x6.5 and came on vans. they do not have the deep offset on the outside and the wide rings don't fit proper. Also watch that the guy isn't trying to sell you the late model ones (88-up) as they are slightly differnt and have a positive offset.
Going for the sleeper look now are we?? If you come by I'll let you look at my latest nightmare and pick through the dozen or so that I have here:-) , DAVE

March 14th, rain or shine,I am at the first two tables in the MIDDLE of the First building off rt. 40 , two best spots there. I may sub-lease one spot. ?? some situations that are brewing here may have me in Emory,Tx. that weekend though. If that happens I may have to call on one of our Dallas area guys to come get me and take me out for a cold one one night. I'm going to need it !
