Re: Everyday stock 5.3 swap into 87 r10 swb

I ran my dorman lines in some of that summit heat sleeve. the nylon line is what the manufacturers use and there are a lot less issues with the fittings. If you have the plumbing there already you can just put the higher pressure fuel pump in and adapt the lines to your new set up.

Do I have to use a shallower oil pan??? the truck is already lowered. And for a timeless question onthese swaps. What headers can I use that aren't outrageous but will work good and not completely dirt cheap

My C10 is dropped with 2.5 spindles in front and I'm running the truck pan, it hangs about an inch below the crossmember.

Re: Everyday stock 5.3 swap into 87 r10 swb

I used a cts-v pan as well. My truck is lowered 4/6, the pan comes to the bottom ofor the crossmember. I believe the 4th Gen f-body pans are even more shallow than the cts-v, but not 100% certain.

I'm using Schoenfeld headers for a 1988-98 truck. They're about $300 from Summit. They fit well and I did need to trim about .25" on driver's upper frame rail for one tube. Also, using the dirty dingo mounts and sliding the engine back as far aft as I could made the passenger tube come close to the firewall, but no modification was needed there.

I've heard that tbss and 2010 camaro manifolds will work also, if you're not wanting headers.

Re: Everyday stock 5.3 swap into 87 r10 swb

I finally bought most of the swap items

schoenfield long tubes
Dirty dingo mounts
5qrt pan from summit
LS-Line-Kit
Intake gaskets
Spectra sending unit FG05m
Ep381 fuel pump
A lokar style shift linkage kit (cheaper than lokar on summit)
Evap plug

And I also ended up with an auto rod control: model 4000 that I have no idea what to do with

Let us know how those Schoenfeld headers fit. I had considered a set of those before buying shorties.

Test fit the driver side not in the truck and it's nice but we'll see when I get it all in the truck how it clears the frame

Re: Everyday stock 5.3 swap into 87 r10 swb

After a while battling some wiring and common little things it fired right up used a surge tank from a late model truck and filled the system from there. scanned it and it had a knock sensor bank 2 circuit low signal. What would be the deal on that it also threw both o2 sensor heater codes and both o2 sensor inactive codes. When i started it an ran it for a while it had kind of a high idle with minor fluctuation but I cleared it out and it idled down to 600-700rpm
