Neutral Safety Switch

I have been fixing and repairing all the hacked up wiring on my 69 c10 automatic. I have gotten to the neutral safety switch and need help. Wiring and plug is there for the reverse lights but nothing there for the NSS, no purple wires or plug. Can I just cut the purple wire from the ignition switch and split it to each terminal on the NSS?

The purple wire goes from the ignition switch to one terminal of the NSS and it flows out of the other terminal of NSS to the starter (thru the firewall junction block).

If you EVER cut or splice the purple wire be sure to properly crimp, then SOLDER, the connections.

Otherwise you'll be back here in 18 months with a "My truck won't crank when hot" thread, and people will be telling you to put a Ford solenoid in it, and the whole tragedy will begin.

That circuit is really sensitive to voltage drop due to bad connections, and that's how they manifest.

That's my problem the only purple wire under the dash is the one running to the ignition switch. Not sure if maybe it used to be a manual or PO just hacked it out of there like a lot of the other wiring.

Yeah that solder thing is something my dad taught me long ago. I think he made me eat a package of butt connectors!
