60-62 T-bar to modern compatibility?
Has anyone looked into the possibility of fitting modern torsion bars and cross members onto any of the T-bar trucks?
I would imagine the Hex Socket would be a standard size however the length and cross members would have to be placed either closer or further back from their current location. I like the simplicity of the T-bars and have no interest in airbags. Regards So many answers on here I hardly ever find the need to post. |

Sounds like a ton of work and custom made parts,Most just replace it with a ifs off a 63-87 truck.

Re: 60-62 T-bar to modern compatibility?
What I was thinking is that the newer 2005 and such trucks are also running the T-bar suspension. If those bars have the same Hex size and similar “spring” rate.
I wonder if it would be possible to swap them onto the older trucks directly or along with their rear cross member and keys. As I recall the rear cross member on the 62 only has 4 bolts holding it in place and moving it forward and rearward doesn’t seem like it would require much effort. Essentially keeping the whole front cross member and assembly intact while modifying the Torsion bars and their cross member assy only. |
