Drip hole in windshield frame. Should it be filled? Pics

Hey guys, I'm almost done with the body work for paint but want to make sure I work this windshield frame right. At the top it looks like there was a hole so the rain could drip down the windshield. It is filled now with bondo I would say. That hole should be open correct?

Also on the bottom of the windshield frame on both sides it looks like the frame was in 2 sections and the seam was filled with bondo. Is this correct? I'm thinking I might sand the old bondo out and replace it with all metal. Just want to make sure I do it right before I lay some paint down.

Thanks!

It's seam sealer NOT bondo ,BIG DIFFERENCE it needs to be cleaned out and redone ,and with all that orange peel in the paint it looks like you need a few weeks of sanding and cleaning /resealing all the seams before spraying any paint .prep, prep, prep then paint .

Those are body seams and need to be filled. As Grumpy said dig out the old and put in new. Use real body sealer not silicone. Also check around the inside of the drip rail and make sure the sealer there is in good shape, no cracks or loose areas....

There are 2 drain holes (actually slots) on the inside, in the corners of the dash. Make sure those are open.

Thanks guys. Yea I have not touched the frame yet. That's what I am doing today. All orange peel will be gone. The whole truck was this way. Not fun.

Not to hijack this thread. Hopefully I can articulate this correctly. In the first picture, there is a seam that runs below the A pillar down behind the upper fender mounting points and cowl vent area. The windshield cowl assembly actually covers over that area and makes the transition from upper end of front fenders/A pillar/doors. The cavity behind there is my area of question, where does water drain from behind there and go to?

If I understand you correctly that is the air box for fresh air intake to the kick panel vents. There should be a drain hole in the bottom on both sides of the cab.

First pic: air box drain. You can see the small opening in the bottom seam.

Second pic: this shows a round hole in the corner of the dash but they are usually just a small slit in the same area on both sides.

Re: Drip hole in windshield frame. Should it be filled? Pics

Awesome! thank you LockDoc. This will help me greatly come April. When i purchased my truck, the PO had repainted the top of the dash flat black and I thought there was supposed to be a hole up there but it's not there on mine. Upon close inspection i found that there has been a small amount of body filler put on the dash at some point. There appears to have had some rust started on the dash top before i got it. I got the truck from the original owner "He did say he had to replace the windshield back in the 80's" Now I know where the original hole goes. Thanks again, I love this site and all its wonderful people!
