grease zerk help needed
I need to replace some grease zerks on the suspension of my 51 3100, I will be attending one of the largest classic car shows in the UK tomorrow and such parts will be available over the counter, my truck is stored a few miles from home so I can't pop out, take one off and measure it.
thanks. Believe it or not Imperial threaded hardware is very difficult to find over the counter here in the UK. |

Re: grease zerk help needed
You are going to need some 1/8 inch grease fittings and some 1/4-20 grease fittings. How many of each I am not sure. Also you want some that are straight and some that have the 40 degree bend in them.
This page shows what Classic Parts sells for the but doesn't give quantities. http://www.classicparts.com/Chassis/products/63/3/0 I'm thinking that: The spindles take two each 2 on the tie rod 2 on the drag link 3 for each front spring = 2 on the front 1 on the rear of each side 2 and maybe 3 for for the clutch and brake pedals 3 for each rear spring. Maybe someone can tell what goes where before I get home and look.

Re: grease zerk help needed
I looked last night and the majority of them are 1/4-20 but there are some 1/8 inch plus it may be what plant the pieces were made in that determines what size of threads on the grease fittings.

may also be whether or not the stuff you have is still actually stock and not a rebuild from days gone by.

Re: grease zerk help needed
Thanks Guys, I'd already purchased some 1/4 20 zerks and have managed to find some !/8 grease fittings Today in a variety of styles, so I should be ok, oddly enough only 1 vendor on the Practical Classics carried a range of grease zerks, Thank you Spalding Fasteners. appologies to any other vendor whose stall I may have missed.
