Project: Boosted Blucille. '70 C10 SWB PB Fab, LS2 S475
Hey everyone. Been lurking around here for a long time stealing ideas and getting advice. Thought it was finally time to share my project with yall. I set out a few years ago to find a patina'd short bed truck. After many months of searching I finally found one. 1970 C10 short bed, good patina. Fairly solid truck. Started working on it, but life got in the way and I had to sell it.
Fast forward a couple of years and I was ready to find and start on another truck. I tried to buy the blue '70 back but the guy just didnt want to sell it. Cant say that I blamed him. So my search continued. I had a friend that had a '68 short bed that he had lost interest in. We agreed on a price and I brought home. It wasnt much to look at it. But it was a start. They had taken the bed and the firewall of the cab down to bare metal so I knew the truck was solid everywhere. Had the entire suspension sand blasted and painted. But it was a long bed frame that had been cut down. I wasn't crazy about that so I found a true SWB frame to start with. Couple of long nights, a bunch of cut off wheels and a few air hammer chisel and punches later and voila! We were ready for Porterbuilt. |

A call to Nate and Dave at Porterbuilt and three agonizing months later, it all shows up.
I was as giddy as a school girl when I got all of this. I'm running level 3 dropmembers front and rear with Ridetech coilovers. Couple days later. I had a rolling chassis. |

Started looking for a 6.0 and got lucky and found a LS2 for a good price. And started ordering some goodies.
The motor is getting stage 2 turbo cam from tick performance, Comp pushrods and dual valve springs, melling HV oil pump, ARP everything. |

Re: Project: Boosted Blucille. '70 C10 SWB PB Fab, LS2 S475
Got the LS2/4L60e put in.
But then plans changed and someone talked me into building a turbo motor. So I ditched the 4L60e and the trailing arm crossmember for a 4L80e and PB's inner frame stiffener. UPS decided I needed a custom bend in one of the IFS mounting points. Got the IFS and 80e in. |

Re: Project: Boosted Blucille. '70 C10 SWB PB Fab, LS2 S475
And then it was onto the fuel. I gave Travis a call at azproperformance and he got me set up with a Boyd welding tank with an Aeromotive a1000 in it. Should be more than sufficient for the turbo. Running AN-8 supply and return.
I wanted the tank to be a little higher than just riding on top of the frame rails. So I found some bushings from energy suspension that would help with that. Then it came time to run the fuel lines. Enter a lot of google searching for how to run the fuel lines. Most everyone I've seen has ran them on the outside of the notches. And as I found out for good reason. But I wanted them hidden for the most part and knew that the only way I could do this was to go through the notch. I'll be the first to say that this was a pretty big pain in the ass and fairly expensive mod. I found some bulkheads from Russell and they worked great. |

Looking good. The boyd tanks are nice. When you get a chance could you measure the distance from the top of the mounting bracket on your tank to the top of the tank? I just want to know how high above the frame the top of the tank will be. Thanks man, I hope it's not too much trouble.

Re: Project: Boosted Blucille. '70 C10 SWB PB Fab, LS2 S475
Decided on a set of wheels (for now anyways). Gotta save my pennies for a set of billets lol Boss 338 20s and 22s
And after searching for what seems like forever trying to pick a set of tires out, I settled on Dunlop 255/35/20 and 265/35/22. |

Re: Project: Boosted Blucille. '70 C10 SWB PB Fab, LS2 S475
Now it came time to put the body on. And I drug my feet heavily when it came to this. Not that I didn't have a solid truck because I did. But I just couldn't get excited about the truck body that I did have. It wasn't what I wanted. So the search was back on to find a patina short bed truck. Many months of searching and absolutely no luck. I was starting to get a little discouraged. The whole time I was building the chassis, the blue truck was in the back of my mind. Kicking myself for ever selling it, I kept thinking it would be awesome to have it back. Well luckily I sold it to a guy that was fairly local to me. So I call him up one day and ask him if he wanted to sell it one last time. (probably asked him a dozen or more over the last couple of years lol) And once again, he shot me down. I had one last hail mary for him. I told him I would trade him the '68 body that I had for the blue truck body since I had already built the suspension and he had already built his as well. After what seemed like a lifetime over the phone, he agreed on that. OH HAPPY FREAKIN DAY!!!! I was giddy as a school girl. The blue truck was coming home!!!!

That blue truck has perfect patina. I can't wait to see it sitting on your frame. Badass!
