Re: 1972 c10 om 2001 tahoe 4x4 chassis
I am watching with awe, at your conversion, it just proves shade tree mechanics are still alive and well. Do it yourself at home. Very impressive of your organization, planning, skills and knowledge, an example is how you used a engine hoist as a crane. Keep up the good work, I will be watching as well as many, many others. Can't wait until you finish, as I know you are too.

Re: 1972 c10 om 2001 tahoe 4x4 chassis
I used a pensular marine 6.5 diesel motor. Fully built it was very expensive motor and only put out 400hp. I used the banks sidewinder turbo kit and built my own 4" exhaust.the motor only lived for 2500 miles and broke a forged piston. That motor eat 3 th400 transmissions in that 2500 miles. Those transmissions were built with Allison converters and staight cut gears. I would never do it again it was a very unreliable 400hp. If anything I would swap a Duramax or Cummins if I were to do it all over again. The truck is forsale it comes with a blowen up 6.5 and a 12 valve cummins

Re: 1972 c10 om 2001 tahoe 4x4 chassis
Ouch... Sucks to hear for sure. Hopefully, I won't have such luck considering I won't be trying to make much more power out of it than what it comes with stock. I plan to just use it to tow a trailer or gooseneck.
Jealous of the vintage air

Re: 1972 c10 om 2001 tahoe 4x4 chassis
I love those wheels. They are my most favorite oem wheels. I wish I could find a set cheap and have the centers opened up to fit on my dana 44.

Looking really nice! What are you thinking about for the front bumper? Roll pan or the bumper?

Re: 1972 c10 om 2001 tahoe 4x4 chassis
Very cool build! Can you post some more pictures and details on what you did with the radiator core support, hood latch, headlight buckets, etc?

Re: 1972 c10 om 2001 tahoe 4x4 chassis
Any reason why you went with a Tahoe frame instead of a Silverado frame?
Great work, I enjoyed reading about it and checking out the pictures. I was thinking about doing the same thing with a 04 Suburban and a 72 Suburban. |

Re: 1972 c10 om 2001 tahoe 4x4 chassis
The Tahoe wheelbase was 116 and the c10 wheelbase was 115! That made it a lot easier for the swap. The newer Silverado rcsb wheelbase is 119 so it would have to be cut down or the axle moved
