Been reading lots of threads lately and I always pass by some about cut rear coil springs and have me thinking. Iknow I can cut the fronts and be comfortable but the rear? How many can be cut off the front til the control arm is on a cut bump stop? Who's running cut rear stock coil spring out there and what did you cut off?

I don't think you can successfully cut the rears unless you have a spring shop in your area that can re-taper the coils. The top and bottom of the coils are smaller so that the bracket that bolts the spring to the trailing arms and frame will fit it..... I think cutting one full coil off will drop the front 2". This is variable depending on how weak your springs are.

more than likely all you could really do to rig the rear spring is heat it

I've cut springs before, and it never turns out well, for the minimal cost of a set of drop springs I don't understand why people don't just replace them. To each thier own I suppose. I've drop C10's with cut springs and with replacement drop springs and the ride is way worse with the cut spring aplication.
