Is my 4L80E the first ever done?
I doubt it. Is there anyone aboard here that might have done it before?
All the wiring and the TCU and SCU boxes are all in, the trans goes in today. I know we'll need to shorten the driveshaft and tweak the cooler lines, but am wondering how the linkage lines up relative to the TH400. For the 200-4R I was able to get it almost dead on by flipping the factory frame bracket upside down, but I'm hoping that since the 4L80E is derived from the TH400 (in fact the latter was renamed the 3L80 by GM) that they're the same, and it'll just work if I put the bracket back to factory. But if someone had done this before, I could ask instead of guessing!

Re: Is my 4L80E the first ever done?
Mine was pretty much the same. I think we ended up using a long pivot point brace because of the exhaust though. I ran the B&M cable around the back of the transmission and have it pulling it into gear instead of pushing it into gear. Just make sure it's in the right gear.
The gears are just like a 400 as far as the selector other than it being over drive.

That's because you have the rare cable shift option, but I don't!
Everything is in, linkage winds up being a couple of inches back from the stock location, so it will take some ingenuity.

Re: Is my 4L80E the first ever done?
Lokar shift rod and the 4L80E works great with the stock column shift. Eliminates a lot of slop too, it's one of the few aftermarket parts I readily recommend.
That being said, I'm running the 4L80E in my truck controlled by the Holley EFI. It's a bit of a different application but nonetheless quite effective. The 4L80E is a great trans and incredibly durable.

I have the lokar linkage and it's pretty straightforward. I've noticed it's almost too easily moved to another gear though...normal?
