Re: Post your need to get and to do list
As I walk out to my truck things start churning on all the things I should be doing to it whether it's needed or just things I would like to do. Then that darned little devil on the right shoulder says, it can wait, and I jump in and head down the road with a big smile and tell myself, "good choice Joe, good choice".

Re: Post your need to get and to do list
I've got mine in 4 lists - 1 for each vehicle and then a misc list. Under C10 I have "everything". Pretty much knocked out Buick and Mustang lists though.

Re: Post your need to get and to do list
I try to keep my list down to a couple things at a time, otherwise it gets overwhelming. Currently swapping heater core, which led to swapping the radiator, and figuring out why someone did a cheesy bypass for the transmission cooler. Also swapping steering gear box, which led to power steering pump, and column bearings. Oh yeah, while the wheels were off I noticed the ball joints are bad and that the axle shaft seals are leaking. So I guess I'll be doing ball joints, bearings, bearing and axle shaft seals, which of course means getting into the front diff, which means who knows what the heck I'll find...
I meant to do something simple, and instead I've got a truck on jack stands that won't be able to drive for a couple more weeks at least. See what I mean? Keep the list to a thing or two at a time. Because each one will lead to another five...

Re: Post your need to get and to do list
Great thread!
1). Clean up a bit around radiator core support frame bushings. 2). Install bushings. 3). Reinstall fuel pump. 4). Put carburetor back on. 5). Make and install hard line from pump to carb. 6). Clean up windshield washer jets. 7). Replace rubber hose for windshield washer. 8). Remove paint overspray on washer bottle. 9). Rebuild heater box and reinstall. 10). Get cowl blasted and epoxy primed. 11). Get cowl and outer fender painted. 12). Put radiator core support on (put the replacement one on). 13). Undercoat replacement inner fender. 14). Reinstall inner and outer fender. 15). Replace wiring. 16). Put front grill, headlights, radiator, etc. back on. 17). Put cowl back on. 18). Replace front end rubber pieces. 19). Redo fuel line cut off valve. (All that work and I still have to redo it). 20). Install new battery. 21). Drain brake system. 22). Replace brake fluid. 23). Bleed brake lines. 24). Repair stuck parking brake. 25). Prime oil pump (manually). 26). Put distributor back in. 27). Set points. 28). Pray it all works. 29). Stand by with C02 extinguisher as someone turns the key! Once truck can move about, get shipping container delivered and blocked up. Move all gear out of garage. Tear down ceiling and all wiring. Clean up attic (had birds up there for a summer, yuck!) Paint garage walls, repair cracks. Rewire garage. Getting 220 installed for a welder! Floor attic. Build shelves. Put all junk back in and get container picked up. Truck goes back into garage but it will run by then so I can get it licensed and actually have a truck! Last edited by In The Ten Ring; 04-04-2016 at 06:26 PM. |

Re: Post your need to get and to do list
Too long. I've removed about 35% of the truck and my "manual" is currently 22 pages long. Once everything is removed, my "list for what's left" will be over 50 pages, and excludes refinishing parts.
