This is in a 1970 GMC. The only thing I know about it are that it has limited slip and a pretty high gear ratio (3500 rpm @60mph).

I've been told it was a 60 but not by someone who is an expert. I am hoping for a definitive answer.

It is a Dana 60, I can see the "60" in the casting web in that picture. Is it a 6 lug semi-floater? If so, is it a big block truck?

It is a 6 lug, and yes it is a colil spring truck. I don't know what a "semi-floater" is. No big block - 350.

I didn't think they existed either until i saw one today

If it is a full-floating rear axle it will have a hub assembly that pokes out past the lugnuts on the wheels, with about half a dozen bolts on it. The semifloating rear axles do not have this.

If it is a 6 lug, it is a semi-floater. There was never any 6 lug full-floater rear axle made, besides maybe some Japanese 1 tons (Toyota, Nissan).
