Tilt Column Bearings

I finally got my tilt column torn down (what a pain in the ass that was!)

Anyway, I've found all of the wear item replacement parts, except for the two bearings inside of the tilt cup "thing" (circled in red). They're actually in great shape... except I accidentally cracked/broke the plastic cage for one of them Also, the plastic is kinda old and brittle and would like to replace them. This was such a pain I never want to rebuild one of these again.

Does anyone have a replacement part number for these?

I can't help with the part number, but I'd like to pick your brain on the disassembly. Did you need any special tools? Is there anything you did, unknowingly, that you shouldn't have? (Like something broke) my tilt column has some play in it that I would like to tighten up, but I'm kinda scared of really messing something up. I wish I had a donor piece that I could learn on

It's a pain in the ass. That's what it is. I hope I can get it back together. The side pins are a pain. You need to find a screw the size that fits and slowly work it out, I used a pair of vice grips sideways and slowly inched it out.

Once it's almost gutted, you have to "punch out" the inner tube from the outer. I used a socket on an extension. Tilt it inside the tube and gently tap out. It taps out through the bottom. That will pop the shift collar off.

I know I'm going to scratch the piss out of it reassembling it, so I'm going to get it in primer, paint the upper part black where the shift collar will cover, scratch the crap out of it reassembling it, THEN final paint it. I rewired my regular column and that was a pain, but I imagine one of the hardest parts is going to be getting the turn signal switch wires back in and in the correct location.

That about looks like mine, got mine from wes @ classic, around the same price. Very hard item to find, lmk if that one works, I'll buy two

If you put a nut on the bolts that you used for your side pins, you can thread them out easier

I'm more confused now. I looked at it closer last night, it looks like the two bearings in the cup are actually a different size, and the outermost bearing that's on the piece that screws in at the top right before the steering wheel looks like the non-tilt bearing.

I meant to take pics last night but fell asleep.

I know there's guys on here that rebuild these... just can't remember who. And you can buy them supposedly fully rebuilt... so they're out there somewhere??? For what I bought this column for years ago, and the cost of the bearings/parts, I should have bought a rebuilt one. I'm still going to come out ahead in the end, but not by a whole lot.

bump with pics. The top bearing *looks* just like the non tilt version, but it's listed as different about everywhere I look.

The ones in the cup are different, one is clearly larger than the other... at +/-$25 each, I really don't want to order the wrong stuff...

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
