Tow a shortbed frame with 12 foot Uhaul Trailer?
I'll preface this by saying I'm a cheap bastard. I think I got a lock on a shortbed frame (just the frame, no rolling chassis) and I'm prepping to get it which means renting a trailer from Uhaul. If I rent their 6x12 foot open trailer, I save 20 bucks versus their car hauler. I think the shorty frame is just about 15 foot so I'd have to pro one end up on the end or front of the trailer...but I'll have it strapped anyway. Do you think I can get away with 3 foot of frame overhanging the trailer in the front by the gooseneck or should I hang it off the back? Think Ill need flags?
Or should I just get the car Hauler....is the frame wide enough to span the tire ramps? -Bob

Re: Tow a shortbed frame with 12 foot Uhaul Trailer?
3-feet ? Pffft ! Piece of cake !
I just hauled my LWB bare frame home in the back of my '03 SWB (yes - 8 feet of frame sticking out beyond my tailgate !), I had it flagged on both left and right rails, winch-strapped-in and weighted down. I met two cops on the way, one at a 4-way stop, they both looked at me (clearly saw it hanging out) and it clearly didn't bother them. |

Re: Tow a shortbed frame with 12 foot Uhaul Trailer?
If your hauling a frame in the back of your truck you will be sticking out from 7 to10 feet. I use a set of the cheapo magnetic trailor lights from HF & your covered for day & night part runs.
Good luck wuth ever you decide to do. Andy |
