Mini blower under hood with big block

Yes, I have searched for this. Extensively. All that I can find is that a single carb blower can fit under the stock hood if it is on a small block. I'd like to stick one on my 1968 396 but do not - will not actually - cut the hood. Has anybody done this?

A single carb blower, like a 177.

^^^^It kinda does, but he's got a cowl hood. Looking to keep my stock hood. And a blower that prob hasn't been made in years.

Re: Mini blower under hood with big block

Yes it fits with a dropped air cleaner base and especially with a shorter air filter. If the carb you use wont play nice with a drop base then use a shorter air cleaner with one of those air filter lids. this would be a good time to use the fresh air tubes running to the core support to draw as much cool air as possible. Depending on your build, boosting warm air from under the hood wont help the cause.

That's a misprint in the Portland ad: i should read Holley 174 blower, not 974. I would run the Holley 174 vs the Weiand 177 myself. The 174 uses teflon strips on the rotors. Next time I run one that's what I'm going to do.

Looking for pics if possible. Not to doubt you. And know which specific blower was used.

If you look at the pic of the black truck, the breather is lower than the cowl panel of the truck so in my professional opinion, the breather will fit under hood with the blower. Jim

It looks like the top of the rim around the outside of air cleaner is about the same height as the top of the AC evaporator housing.
