Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
Yes it is and I'm having issues with the oil pressure gauge. The sending unit that came with it does not work. After some research I bought a factory sending unit. Now it almost zeros out( displays 02 with key on) but while cranking it will slowly creep up then shoot to 99. I'm hoping it's just power surging from cranking the engine but I won't know anything for sure till I actually get the engine started. Hopefully that will be in a few days.

Also the auto meter temp sending unit and adapter is leaking. Doesn't matter how tight you get it, it leaks.

Bummer. I was hoping for a cheap alternative to aftermarket gauges. Let me know how you like that cam.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
I was hoping to have vintage air heat and air with my bonus check but ended up having to use it all on the crank and cam. I'm still bummed about that. Hopefully it holds together this time cause I don't think the wife is going to let me spend another penny on the drivetrain. I could've just bought a used late 90s vette for what I've got in this thing now.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
NEWS FLASH!!!!!!!!!
Ok guys, As soon as the weather clears up so I can get back under my truck Im going to do a video to explain how a $14 ebay part may have been the reason I just had to rebuild the bottom end on this engine!!! stay tuned!!! in the mean time, SteppinWolf is back up and running and with some help from Aknovaman, I'm using HP Tuner and learning how to tune. Hopefully the rain will let up and I can finish getting everything squared away and post some cool vids soon. I'm also starting on some bodywork soon....replacing cab corners and rockers and hopefully new doors and fenders. Hoping to have her in primer within the next years time.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
no it was the billit oil blockoff plate in combination with electric pressure sending unit was blocking oil flow. Ill explain when I do the vid. I almost did the same thing again after rebuilding the bottom end but I hope I cought it in time this time.

new crank
BTR stage 3 truck cam BTR 560 Springs and LS7 lifters POS $20 ebay spring tool. Barely got the job done. It bent and warped all to crap. Next time Ill buy the trickflow or comp cam tool. New crank going in in case anyone every needs to know, these are the tools I bought to install the crank gear and crank pulley. worked great and I think I got both for under $60 shipped. Back together back where she belongs...hopefully for longer than a couple weeks this time!!!

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
Also I finally stalled an electric fan since Aknovaman had wired up the harness for one and I had one brand new that I bought years ago. Ive seen dynos of a 5.3 picking up 8hp from switching to an electric fan so I figured why not.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
Everything is coming along nicely. Great sound to the cam. You might consider putting that fan in a shroud to help pull more air.

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
Get a set of Chrysler intrepid fans at u wrench it. Cheap and they pull a ton of air. Never use the through the radiator zip ties. They destroy the fins and tubes via vibration and cause eventual leaks. Run vertical straps of aluminum from ace hardware to mount them to top and bottom of radiator support

Re: Project "Steppin Wolf" LS swap
Cut me some slack guys, it was a quickly job, lol. I want to make a shroud to fit inside the factory shroud that is on there to keep everything neat looking. As far as airflow, it seems to be doing ok keeping temp stable at around 205 which is how it was running with the clutch fan. It's a 16" fan rated at 2200cfm and it feels like a wind tunnel under there when it's running.
