Question about headlight switch
I have the Painless Performance Wiring Harness P/N #10206 and having issues with my brake lights. There is no actual fuse for the tail lights and I have installed new brake light housings for both right and left. Would the headlight switch actually cause the tail lights not to work? Mind you the headlights, turn signals, and brake light does work.
Just lost in where the issue is lying.

Re: Question about headlight switch
The headlight switch can be the source of tail lights not working.

The head light switch feeds power to the tail lights but not the brakes. If your fuse is blown you won't have brake lights or dome lights. You say you have issues with your brake lights, then you say they work. Did you mean issues with the tail lights? The picture posted is for the pre 68 trucks the 68 and newer trucks use this one. There is a plug in the firewall just behind the distributor that carries all the rear light wires. The brown wire is the tail light wire. Check it for power when the HL switch is on. If you want to test the tail lights, and the headlight switch, you could pull the headlight harness plug off the switch and jump between the red power wire, and the brown tail light wire. If they don't work then there is a problem with the brown wire to the rear lights. If the lights work, then jump between the orange wire and the brown tail light wire. The orange wire is actually the feed wire for the tail lights. If the tail lights work then the headlight switch is bad.

Re: Question about headlight switch
I have the newer fuse box. The install was pretty straight forward for everything to work. The headlight switch is the original one. I am going to try and put a new switch in to see if that clears up the issue.
