1972 big block mounts question
If I have the correct 1972 big block towers on the frame and the correct brackets for the engine, will 1973+ clamshell mounts work? They look almost identical from photos, especially their bolt pattern, but their two raised bumps on the engine side look a little different.
Are 1972 BB clamshells available from auto stores? I imagine the brackets are the difficult part, as the rubber mount is typically considered replaceable. Last edited by General23cmp; 04-29-2016 at 11:12 AM. |

Re: 1972 big block mounts question
Might be a good place to start.

Re: 1972 big block mounts question
Thanks, but no. Been there, no answer.
Did research elsewhere and I believe if you want replacement clamshells for a 1972, the 1973 and up big block/diesel clam shells are the right ones. Pn 2395. If you try to use the national chain auto part websites, you won't get this one. |

Re: 1972 big block mounts question
For example, Autozone wants you to get this...which I believe is a car big block mount.

Re: 1972 big block mounts question
Another interesting note, check out pn 34-0330 on the LMC truck site for a 72 402 engine mount. Then check out the 1973-87 truck section and see what the engine mount pn is for a 454. Same. Good thing to know for those with 72 big blocks needing clamshell mounts.
