That's gonna be a really nice piece of iron Jeff. I'll have to come see it this summer when we come home.

Re: Just picked up this 68 C/30
Bed made by Aluma and the bed is 96" wide with 8" over hanging the outside tires but the ho72 is being replaced with a Dana 70 dually rear from a 91 crew cab dually putting the tires right out to the edge of the bed

Re: Just picked up this 68 C/30
What is the benefit to adding the later model rear end other than being wider ? I may need to do that to my 72 1 ton as the bed is too wide .

Re: Just picked up this 68 C/30
Gives updated rear with 3:73 gears and if your hauling it gives more side to side stability but I'm converting it to 4X4 so I just like the wheels out to the edge just looks better that's my opinion

Re: Just picked up this 68 C/30
Really interested in the conversion ,have thought about doing this to my truck for years. What are you going to use for a front axle? Are you using all 67-72 components or will this be a custom upgrade using newer parts? Yes please keep posting lots of pictures!

Re: Just picked up this 68 C/30
I didn't have a lot of time today to work on it but I did get the 2WD K member removed and the 4X4 engine cross member in I'm leaving the engine in the stock 2WD location as opposed to moving it to the rear like the 4WDs are this way I'll use the front drive shaft out of the 84 and use the original shroud on the radiator

Re: Just picked up this 68 C/30
Yes everything is off a 72 4x4 frame engine mount, front radiator core support mounts and frame mount and shackles for the leaf springs to mount to and the steering box bolts right up to the 2WD frame

Re: Just picked up this 68 C/30
Those wheels will look good with the aloomya bed. I would have liked it with the stock steel Budds, but gotta balance out that fresh bed

Re: Just picked up this 68 C/30
I knew the front suspension was supposed to bolt up in the case of a 10 or 20 but wasn't sure if there was more involved or more of a custom installation on the C 30 frame. So is the 84 k30 axle going to bolt right in without modification too?
