Anybody use Lock Rite lockers in their 12 bolts?
Hey guys,
I freshened up my 350 with some decent heads and a nice big cam and now I'm trying to chase down all the little things that pop up once you add a bunch of power. Currently the truck will roast the right tire for as long as you can keep the pedal down, seriously through all 3 gears lol I don't want to spend a fortune, and I also don't want to disturb the ring and pinion, and after reading a bit I've noticed that the Lock Rite lockers can be installed fairly easily and can be had for around 300 bucks. I don't think I'll be over 400hp in the next year. How do you like them? Is 300 bucks the usual price? I've heard they go for 200-240 bucks but couldn't find one for that cheap |

I installed one this spring, super easy install, I really like it locks them both up great, the I'd time when turning you'll hear some chat clicking as the locker does its job, but very quiet. If I had to do it all over again I'd do it all the same. I scored mine off someone who bought it then sold the rear end they were putting it in. Only paid $275CND

I would spend the extra money on a eaton tru track, or something in that nature. You don't want to Lock the rear end full time, it's dangerous in weathered conditions, and it wears out your bearings faster. When you hear the dif making noise when you turn, it's more stress on the diff.
I run a eaton tru trac with dif cover, I'm at over 600hp to the wheels, launch on slicks and transbrake and it hasn't skipped a beat... Best money I've spent bar none Posted via Mobile Device |

I found a spartan locker on eBay for about 260. Was by far the cheapest I could find.

I've had a lunch box locker in my '67 for three years now, still going strong and love it!!! Mine was not a "Lockrite: brand, but very quick, easy install. I would say if a person is not changing gear ratios, then the these are the way to go. My $.02
