Change Instrument Cluster, now Speedometer stopped working.

I replaced the instrument cluster last night and today the speedometer isn't working. All the lights work. The other gauges are working. I hooked up the Speedo line, but nothing.

Any thoughts?

If nothing moves I would say that the cable is not inserted into the back of the speedometer correctly or the housing collar is not screwed all the way onto the back of the speedometer. The threads are pretty fine on the collar and it is easy to get it cross threaded. I would take it back apart and try it again.

Thank you. I'll work on that. I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.

The pin had fallen out of the cable and was on the floor. I put the pin on the interior cable and it worked for a day and then stopped. Do i need to use a special grease or glue to keep the pin on the cable?

I don't think any adhesive would work in the very high rotation regime those parts get up to. You may have to bite the bullet and pop $20 for a new speedo cable.

The cable end should be crimped onto the cable. If you have an older auto repair shop near you they may have a crimper.

Looks like I am in the market for a new cable as this one will work one day and then not at all. Summit has two different sizes (55 or 72 inches), anyone know what size is standard for a 69 C10?

Thank you!

You should be able to just pull your inner cable out from the top and measure it.

You put the new one back in the same way unless you are buying the complete assembly....
