Nothing new to update. Still waiting on time to put in the new dizzy and wires. And needs a valve adjustment. Going to try it the service manual way with the motor running. Should be an experience.

Anyway, thought I would post up some pics. Finally gave the old fella a bath. Probably hasn't had one in years. If not decades to be honest.

Not to bad for such an old paint job on an old work truck.

Love your truck. It looks very similar to my c20, paint colour, trim etc.
You should be happy once you install the hei, it made a big difference to mine.

Been a long time. I am not sure why all my image links are broken. I will have to go back and try and figure that out when i have time.

So a lot has been going on since my last post.

Got the new HEI installed. Had a mechanic take a look at the carb and adjust it and my timing. Things seem to be running well.

So in the past month or so here is what has happened.
New dash pad, cleaned up the cluster, replaced heater ducting, new glove box liner, battery, new externally regulated alternator, new balancer, new under drive pulleys, new radiator, heater core, water pump, and hoses. I think that covers it. Of and cleaned up a good bit of rust and painted the various rust parts with rust inhibitor.

Once I get this cooling system squared away, have some minor leaks to address, I am rebuilding the front suspension, upgrading to front disk brakes, installing my airbags, removing the bed, rebuilding the rear suspension, installing rear bags, and then an air tank and compressors.

After that, I can finally start to enjoy it and do some cosmetic changes.

Well I threw my back out just over a week ago and progress halted. Back on it this week. Who need to rest.

Got all the front suspension out and disassembled. Just dropped off the control arms to get blasted. Taking a wire wheel to the frame parts I can reach and givng them a coat of hammerite.

As soon as the control arms are back they will get the same hammerite treatment. Then all new ball joints and control arm shafts. Then the disk brake kit and bags. I'll post some before and after of the control arms when I get them done.

So here are some update pics.

So here is the only pic I have of the battery tray. Lots of cleaning and trying my hand at sand blasting. 2 coats of rustoleum rust reformer. Some runs but I hate painting. So I can live with it. The battery covers that anyway.


Here is a comparison of the old and new harmonic balancer. Guess it was a good thing I was changing the radiator and pulleys and found this.



New water pump, underdrive pulleys and balancer installed. Only replaced the water pump because I was in there. Couple coats of high temp paint on the pump. Added pulleys to get ready for future AC and PS



While I was in there I found that my fuel line had a sharp bend in it. Replaced it to. Comparison shot.



Heater box cleaned and painted. I opted to not remove my hood. It cam out easy, but it surely didnt go back in without a fight. While in there I replaced all the gaskets and seals. Oh and the heater core.

Cleaned up my gauge cluster. So happy with how clear the lenses are now. Paint turned out terrible however. After the first coat of black, i taped it off to do the "chrome" And when I removed the tape it made a mess of the black. Oh well. It's good enough for now.

So here are some progress update pics.

Got the front control arms all done. Cleaned, sand blasted, and painted. I used Hammerite on them. I picked this because of price and reviews. Seems a good option for the money. But i used cheap brushes and this stuff paints on like tar almost. But it's no show truck and these things wont be seen anyway.

Just an example of one of the lowers right after removal. What a mess.

this process ended up putting me in the bed for almost a week. Spent way to much time bent over scrubbing ended up throwing my back out. After all these years the thrashing done on my back finally caught up to me.

I also used Hammerite on the bag cups and plates.



Cleaned up my sway bar brackets and sway bar. No pic of the sway bar. Paint still drying.

After a dip in Metal Rescue. This stuff works really well to be so safe to use. No pics of what they looked like before

new and old shocks. No idea when the shocks were last replaced. But as you can see, they are shot. Once compressed, they dont have any rebound left in them.

Here is a mock up of my manifold going under my seat to supply my DLoe valves. And the 90s that will be going to my bags. Oh, and the ball valve that will be my remote drain for the tank.

I should probably post this question in the suspension forum, and I will, but anyone know if this white thread sealant on these fittings is good enough? It isn't teflon tape and I cannot figure a way to remove it.

I was going to put some Loctite 545 also but not sure how they will react with one another or if I even need to use the 545 with this stuff already on here.
