Thanks Russell,

PROGRESS!!!!

I've finally got my truck rolling again, and except for small stuff like zerks, all I have left is the brake lines, steering stuff, and calipers. Then I can work on engine/body!!!

On a 15 year old's budget, it is tough, but it's getting done!

Ciao,

Brian

That looks sweet........nice job.

It looks like your front springs aren't in there pockets....it may just be the picture. I know on mine with the lowered springs, every time I jack it up I have to push the springs back in there pockets, because they tend to drop off to the side.

Thanks for the replies guys,

The wheels are 15x8's and wrapped in 275/60/15. I have always loves the 5 spoke look, but think that TT2's are way overdone, don't seem TOO many of these on these trucks, so I thought i'd use them.

I sandblasted everything, then etched, then painted in POR15. Then I topcoated with POR's "Blackcote" topcoating. It looks awesome and is very durable.

I will check again to make sure the springs are in their pockets, I am 99.9% sure that they are, but you never know. I know when I was putting them, I put them in about 6 times to make sure that they were. They are stock height springs.

gotta run,

Brian

Thanks, yep it's tough at 15, having to build/buy all my tools, and then having to earn every penny that goes into this money pit. I've learned a ton though, and have never regretted taking on such a huge task.

71 Cheyenne, I want to reiterate the comment yellow72custom said about the ochre color. The quickest sale I ever saw was made on a bone stock 72 Cheyenne SWB fleetside painted ochre and white, just like yours. It was a stock restoration and sold for $22,000 the first day of the show! The next time I saw that truck it was in the Tacoma Hot Rod and Harley show. It was sweet! It takes some people time to appreciate that color but it is a great color.

Someone on this board built an AMT model that he painted ochre. He also painted the engine block ochre to complement the body color....it looked awesome! Maybe he will post a picture of it again. Keep up the great work!

Your just at the start of the money pit.

I was 14 when I bought my truck. I am now 19 and about $14,000 dollars later it's still not finished. I have done most of the work myself so the $14,000 is not other people's wages to work on my truck. Your frame looks awesome and the wheels just make it look totally Awesome. Take your time and keep doing a awesome job. Good luck and try and stay away from girls till it's done or it will never get done ! (Just kiddding) (kind of)

Thanks for all the replies!

yeah, not sure about the color yet. Ochre would probably have the best resale value. I hated the color when I bought it, but it has REALLY grown on me. I might just have to go stock on the color. We'll see I have been looking at other color combos though, red/white blue/white green/white. Keeping the two tone for sure.

On the money, yeah, it is a money pit, and have no spare money because of it, but the way I look at it, all my friends are spending money on the "fad" clothes, drugs, and girls. (the last one is the only one even close to being justifyable ) when I am done I will have a sweet truck, and the things I am learning are priceless.

It WILL be done,......sometime

Thanks guys!

Brian

Grils are totally cool. I have had a girlfriend for 3 years now it's hard to actually want to go spend 30-50 dollars in a night to see a movie and dinner because I know that that money could buy me a set of door sill plates or 1/2 of a new dash bezel or a shock. But she is totally worth going out with and spenng money on. I just wish I could get it done. At least it will be paid for when it's done.
Keep up the Awesome work kid and keep going down the good road .

Later Mario
