Brake Chirp
My brakes make a chirping noise when I first apply the brakes then it goes away after more pressure is applied, What might be the problem there?
Thanks 18Z 71 GMC 4x4 SWB |

Re: Brake Chirp
Try grabbing the caliper and see if it is loose on the caliper pins.

Re: Brake Chirp
Pull a wheel and see if the wear sensor is rubbing on the rotor. It is a small piece of steel that rubs on the rotor. This is an indicator that tells you that your pads are almost worn out (if so equipped)

Re: Brake Chirp
Sometimes the Pads move a little under light pressure and the Metal back of the pad rubs and squeaks against the Piston or the Caliper. As more pressure is applied the pads cannot move. Any auto parts store should have some "Disc Brake Quiet". Apply it as directed to the back side of the pad and re-install.
Good luck!

Re: Brake Chirp
Sounds like the wear sensor like steeveedee said. You can buy yourself a little time by bending the sensor back a little.
