1969 Open Road
We recently got a 1969 24' Open Road Motor Home that we're restoring. It has an air compressor under the hood and a large air tank attached to the frame underneath. Can anybody tell us why? Thanks.

Re: 1969 Open Road
Is it a C-30 chassis? Electric or engine driven pump? I don't think it would have air brakes. I bought a camper van for parts once that had one under the hood and it was plumbed with a valve for filling air shocks and powered a ridiculous horn. If the lines are intact I would follow them out. It could have even been for tire repairs or air tools

Re: 1969 Open Road
Is there an air chuck somewhere? I was wondering if it was just for handy air or maybe for MX. Does it have a tow hitch?

Are you sure it's an air tank and not a water tank? Before demand water pumps were developed, water systems were pressurized with small compressors. Should be fairly easy to follow the line or lines coming off the tank.

Re: 1969 Open Road
Might be for an air bag leveling system. Not uncommon on an RV
