72 door panels on earlier door
I have a 67-71 door on my drivers side with a 72 panel. It was loose so I pulled it assuming it just needed new clips, not realizing the older door panels mounted up differently. Any suggestions on mounting this panel so it isn't loose along the bottom? I'll drill out the holes up top to line up with the clips on the panel, but I'm not too sure what to do about the bottom of the panel. I could throw in the earlier style square clips, use screws and drill into the door panel itself, but I'm not sure if that would look like crap or if there's a better option...

Re: 72 door panels on earlier door
not sure about the fasteners, but you also need 72 only window regulators. the crank posts are longer since the door panels are thicker.

Re: 72 door panels on earlier door
This. Makes it a pain which is why you don't see it all that often. So much easier to sell those to someone who needs them and get repro or used panels from a similar year truck.

Re: 72 door panels on earlier door
I would go that route if my passenger side wasn't a 72 door Oh well, I'll mount it up one way or another.

Re: 72 door panels on earlier door
I think the '72 door panel lower mounting holes are in the same place as the '67-'71s. The earlier mounts use 1/4''-20 clipnuts inside. The '72s are mounted with plastic, barbed Body Panel Retainers, instead of screws.
Dorman P/N 454910BP [pack of 3]. You will need the longer crank/handle pivots for the Window Regulator as well as the Door [open] Handle. Also '72 -only elbow pads/armrests are unnaturally expensive.
