HO52 torque specs?

Hey all, thanks to fellow member Todd (Tdrcreyn4) I scored a eaton no-spin to put into my 70 c20.

I got it completely apart and everything looks great, but I am having a hard time finding torque specs for the carrier and ring gear bolts.

I assume they are somewhat similar to the 14bff, but I'd rather do the job right. If anyone has those specs anywhere, I'd really appreciate it.

Re: HO52 torque specs?

If you can't find specs for the rear end try and google torque specs for the hard ware itself. You will need to determine what grade the bolts are first. Like, are they grade 3,5,8.I know there are tables out there because i have one hanging on my shop wall.hope this helps.

Re: HO52 torque specs?

I'd assume grade 8. I googled for HO52 differential torque specs and read the pirate4x4 forums where they talk about them. Just wasn't sure if people had the information lying around. I'll try the individual parts, but just searching for carrier bolts may not help that much.

Re: HO52 torque specs?

I have never taken one apart. However, the "Specifications" section, subsection 4 at the back of my 1969 Chassis Service Manual has torque specs for all the axles. The same info is at the back of the Chassis Overhaul Manual. If you don't have a manual for your year check here.

For the 5200# capacity axle, it shows a bolt torque for the "ring gear" of 110 and 45 for the "differential carrier to axle housing". I won't guarantee that these are the ones you are looking for. I'm a novice when it comes to differentials, so you better check the appropriate manual from the link above.

SSTim has factory manuals available on this site. They should have your specs. I'm sorry I dont have a link but do a search and you should find them.
