1965 C30 Parking Brake lever question

Hello all, I went to adjust my parking brake, and realized that I've only got half the travel I should with the lever, because it hits the dashboard when letting it out.

Anyone know if this is the wrong lever, turned around backwards, etc? I pulled off the rubber handlegrip since it was sticking up an extra inch or so, but it still hits the dash. I can shimmy it around behind it without the rubber grip on, and I'm able to tell that is the correct amount of travel. However, this would be very tiresome to do in practice.

I was wondering if the release-lever grip was supposed to be on the dash side, as I've normally seen vehicles set up that way. Worst case, I may have to cut part of the top off of the lever.

That is not an original e-brake handle/lever. I will see if I can remember to take a pic of the one in my '66 C30 tomorrow when I'm at the shop.

Thanks! I'll see if I can get a friend to help me cut it then, for now... Or bend it.

I have a 65 out back, I will go take some pics. I know it functions fine, I used it when unloading from the trailer a few years ago.

The handle is roughly 11 inches tall from the flange the hump bolts to when in the relaxed position and well under the dash. The release rod also travels inside the lever till it passes under the hump. I wonder what your handle came from, a COE possibly?

I think that lever is out of like a C60 ECT with a flat floor I will look at my C60 but i think it has that offset and is taller than the one for smaller trucks

I went and got myself a new angle grinder and cut off about an inch. Fits perfect! Now I just need to get everything back together and adjusted again, and then wrap the handle with something.
