Re: Show off your Wheels
I'm still working on putting mine together, but here they are. It is a 15" x 7" GM steel wheel with the original style hub cap that I have to drill into the wheel to fasten the hubcaps. Those are also the ribbed bot rod style chrome trim rings.
The tires are Coker Classic Radials, 225/75/15. Heres the build thread if you're interested. Last edited by ebernst; 06-14-2016 at 11:57 AM. |

Re: Show off your Wheels
Still trying to figure out how to get more speed out of a 1958 Chevy car engine and a 4 speed transmission with 4.10 gears in the rear end...my latest try is a pair of 16" wheels with 235/85/16's on the rear....so I found a pair of trailer wheels with the correct bolt pattern...and they fit under the fenders too....less than $150.00 I think shipped to my door...
31" tall for the rear tires now...Howard Knapp now can get up to 53 mph....yahooooo MikeC |

Re: Show off your Wheels
Only have the rears so far, still haven't nailed down the backspacing for the fronts yet. But they'll be 17x8 up front with 245/45/17 and 18x10 in the rear with 295/45/18. We're having the rear end narrowed 3 inches total to make them fit.

Re: Show off your Wheels
I'm ordinarily not a fan of white walls on trucks but this looks very nice. Congrats!

Re: Show off your Wheels
Mine were purchased CHEAP from an OfferUp ad. Original Boyd's Smoothie 17x8's. A friend who lived nearer bought them. If I'd gone I'd have not bought them. One was damaged on the back, two needed straightening and all needed pro re-polishing. In the end they cost almost the same as just buying new.
But they look nice now. I'm probably going to end up changing them because they're a little too billet-y, too blingy for my taste but also the backspace isn't quite right. I'll probably go with these Vintage WheelWorks or Coys wheels with gray spokes.

Bob, Do you know how much lower than stock your truck is front and rear?

Re: Show off your Wheels
Not very much Dan. If I remember right it has 1 leaf pulled out in front and 2 in the rear. Overall I'd say with spring sag it is about 2 inches lower than stock

Not actually mine but If I get my way, they will be. I came across this picture on the Hot Rod Site. Instantly loved them and put them on my wish list for my 52 build project. 15x10 and 15x8 Wheelsmith.

Re: Show off your Wheels
northern that black truck is amazing, and they have straight on views of it that I use to photochop and see what a particular mod will look like.
20x8 and 20x9 mobsteel artillery, 20" trim rings, powdercoated ruby red and modified clip style new GMC caps to fit. my favorite wheelset to date, more trucks in the albums in my profile. IMG_3096 by Joe Doh, on Flickr
