lower this truck

What is the best way to lower this truck ? It is a 55 2nd sitting on a 1986 chassi. From what I can tell it sits about 7" higher than stock and that is what I would like is close to stock as I can get.

coils, drop spindles, and a flip kit for the rear will give you 5" front and 6" rear, you will need new shocks for the lowered ride, dont be cheap on shocks! going more than 5" in the front and the front crossmember will be super low to the ground for a static drop, more than 6" in the rear and you might need a c notch.

I like mcgaughys and bell tech for the drop parts.

you might see if there is an easy way to lower the body over the frame too, get a little more drop for "free" (depending on the work involved)

Can you lower the body on the frame?
I'm assuming it's that high because they didn't want to raise the bed floor.

I agree with the body setting rather high on the frame to keep the full depth of the bed. Not a bad thing with a daily driver that you use but not too cool for a custom truck. I don't see any frame sticking out below the rockers but I'd be first looking at how much gap there is between the frame and the bottom of the cab.

Part of me sees this and say's don't lower it. Throw on some pie crust cheater slicks and go w/the Street Freak theme. In a weird way i'm dig'n it's stance.

My first question is what is used now to have your body sit as high as it is now?? Is this the 86 suspension you are using??

My question would be what would this do to your bed?? how deep is it now??

Another thought, check out an air ride systems, this would allow you to drop it and raise it when you want to.

Lol, gasser look is a legit option. Those wheels already look the part, just need bigger ones in the back.

In all seriousness, isn't this truck 4wd? And if so, how much do you want to lower it? I would say not much more than 4-5 inches if you are going for a stock appearing ride height. If it's 4wd your original post may be a bit confusing.

Truck is not a 4x4. It is sitting high because PO used original frame to fill in the dip under cab on the 86 frame and in order to use original cab mounts. Dont think I can lower body any without alot of work. I am probably going with the drop kit in front and flip in axle flip in rear. just dont want the suspension to be to low, I live on a dirt road that is not well maintained. will try and get pics of how it is all set up right now.

I quickly breezed through the 1958 Apache link in your sig which seems to be 4wd. But now I am guessing that the 1958 link isn't about your 1955 -
