Help Me With These Original Connections

Hello all,

In the process of replacing my radio and all new ductwork, I stumbled across these two original (I believe) connections that aren't connected. Can anyone identify these?

I believe the first pic is A/C connector, the second is for the TH400 kickdown switch.

Re: Help Me With These Original Connections

I have a '70 C10 and redid my dash wiring harness but I couldn't tell from your photos. One kinda looks like the horn relay but the colors don't match.

In your first photo I can't tell if there are two wires going to the lower position of the Packard 56 series connector or one.. It would help to see a photo of that connector end-on..

Same with the second photo - it is important to see how the connectors are oriented, (vertical or horizontal); because some connectors are very similar but they are generally designed so they will only connect in one way.. The wire colors may be faded; so it would help too to know if there is a stripe and what your best guess is of the wire colors; sometimes you can trace it up to a place where it is less faded and what looked like a pink wire you can then see actually was originally red.

Also, is yours a factory A/C truck? And what year and model?

The second pic is definitely for TH400 kickdown switch.

Re: Help Me With These Original Connections

Here is the photo of the closest thing I could come up with - though like I wrote earlier the one or two wire colors differ from yours so I'm not sure.

I hope I'm recalling correctly that was the horn relay whatever brain cell of mine was storing that seems to be missing at the moment.

My truck has the TH350 so that would explain why I don't recognize what 70Stovebolt identified as the electric kickdown wire connector - mine has the mechanical kickdown instead.

Re: Help Me With These Original Connections

I believe the first picture is the connector for a anti- diesel relay. It's part of the a/c harness in 71 72 I believe.

Awesome skills ChewyChevy! That looks right on.. I'm glad to know too because neither of those connectors or wires are on my '70 so I can stop wondering..
